MONTHLY MEETING HELD. The monthly meeting of the Invercargill branch of the Plunket Society, was held in the secretary’s office, Newburgh’s Buildings, on Wednesday morning, when Mrs T. D. Pearce presided over the following members: —Mesdames H. W. Royds, Ritchie Crawford, J. Robertson, W. Macalister, J. D. Mitchell, R. M. Strang, W. Carswell, J.

D. Campbell, J. Smith Nelson, C. A. Stewart, Parkin, C. S. Longuet, J. Thomson. , A letter was received from headquarters, asking for the names of the Invercargill delegates to the biennial general conference of the society to be held in Wellington from Tuesdav November 18, to Saturday, November 22 inclusive, and -for remits. It was decided that Mesdames T..D. Pearce, H. ML Royds and Ritchie Crawford should represent the Invercargill branch. The president readia circular letter, which had been drawn up for the purpose of making known to mothers the work of the Karitane-Hunt Hospital and Mothercraft Home.

The secretary reported that as a result of the mannequin parades, held in the Civic Theatre during Industries Week, the' sum of £47 9/6, had been received from the committee. Letters of thanks had already been forwarded to those who had assisted in making the parade a success. Final arrangements were made for the mannequin parades to be held in the “Mary Elizabeth” Tea Lounge on Thursday and Friday, September 25 and 26. It was decided that a letter of thanks should be sent to the 'Winton branch of the Plunket Society, for their kindness in sewing garments for the Karitane-Hunt Hospital. Nurses’ Reports.

Miss Warneke, Matron of the KaritaneFlunt Hospital, reported that one mother and nine babies were in the hospital on July 31. Nine mothers and 14 babies were admitted for treatment during the month, and six mothers and 9 babies discharged. The largest number of patients in on any one day was 17, four mothers and 13 babies. Mothers and babies were admitted from Waianiwa, Ohai, Gore, Riverton, Hokonui, Birchwood, Tokanui, Invercargill, and babies from Lorneville, Riverton, Tisbury, Wallacetown and Mataura. Nurses Macaulay, Boyd, Edwards and Govan had sat for their final examinations in July, and had all been successful. There had been 204 visitors to the hospital during the month. Nurse Wilson reported that Winton had been visited' four times during the month. Twenty-eight visits had been paid to homes, while 62 adults, 58 babies and ten older children had visited the rooms. There were eight new cases for the month. Riverton had been visited four times. Twenty-four visits had been paid to homes, while 50 adults, 44 babies and seven older children had visited the rooms. I here were four new cases. Bluff had been visited four times. Forty visits had been paid to homes, while 48 adults, 42 babies and three older children had visited the rooms. There were three new cases for the month.

Tuatapere had been visited four times. Thirty-six visits had been paid to homes, while 56 adults, 50 babies and five older children had visited the rooms. There were four new cases. The total number of babies under supervision was 402. Nurse Rhind reported that Waikiwi had been visited four times. Twenty-seven adults, 24 babies and 12 older children had visited the office, while 70 visits had been paid to homes. There were two new cases for the month. The general health of the babies was good. ■ Nurse Maclntyre reported that bouth Invercargill had been visited four times. Fifty-six adults, 54 babies and 12 older children had visited the rooms There was one new case for the month. lhe Mothers’ Rest Room had been visited, five times. Ninety adults, 91 babies and seven older children had visited the rooms. There were three new cases for the month. Nurses Rhind and Maclntyre reported that there were 61 new cases in town and country, 37 being at the centre. Fifty-nine visits had been paid to the homes of new cases and 354 to old cases, hour hundred and forty-nine adults, 402 babies and /3 older children had visited the office. Theie were 1000 babies and 900 older children under supervision. The general health of the babies had been good.
