GORE RACING CLUB
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the committee of the Gore Racing Club was held on Saturday evening, when the following members were present: The president (Mr F. Wallis, jun.), in the chair, and Messrs F. Wallis (sen.), M. R. Lawlor, G. Whittingham, G. C. Hamilton, I. T. Martin, M. Green and A. Pettigrew. Two resignations >of memberships were accepted. - The programme for the spring meeting was approved. The amount of stakes was fixed at £2435, the same amounts as last year. The only alteration to the programme was the changing of the Labour Day Trot to 14 miles, class 3.45. The following officials were appointed for the meeting: Judge, Mr H. B. Ireland; starter, Mr A. D. Mclvor; hon. starter trots, Mr W. Norman. Messrs G. W. Whittingham, I. T. Martin, M. R. Lawlor, F. Wallis, sen., and F. Wallis, jun., were appointed as a works committee and Messrs A. T. Pettigrew, G. C. Hamilton and -F. Wallis, sen., as a finance committee.
It was decided to telegraph to the Minister for Finance and the member for the district protesting against the proposed increase in taxation, and urging the restoration of rights to publish dividends, telegraph money, etc.
