Messrs C ( . E. Barnes and D. S. Broughton, business agents of the Railway Department, arrived in Invercargill by the express last night.
A Press Association, message from Christchurch reports that the death has occurred in London of Mr J. F. Studholme, aged 64 years, a brother of Colonel Studholme. Last evening, the members of the Gore staff of Messrs J. E. Watson and Company, Ltd., met to make a presentation to Mr I. Brockett prior to his marriage. In presenting Mr Brockett with a cheque on behalf of the management and the staff, Mr W. Gee referred to his long and loyal association with the firm and to his unfailing courtesy to clients. Members of the staff joined in wishing Mr Brockett the best of good luck.
Mr T. R. Abercrombie, who left Invercargill yesterday to assume the managership of the National Bank at Riverton, was on Monday evening met by the staff'of the local branch of the bank. In making a presentation of a suitcase to Mr Abercrombie the manager, Mr C. Barrett, referred to his many excellent qualities, to his high efficiency and to the esteem in which he was held by all. After other speakers had endorsed Mr Barrett’s remarks Mr Abercrombie suitably replied. The opportunity was also taken of welcoming Mr Abercrombie’s Successor, Mr P. D. Menard.
