The campaign for a resistance of the salt laws took a serious turn at Dharasna, when a mob of 200 who stormed the salt depot were charged by the police. Over 200 were injured and the principal leaders, including Mrs. Sarojini Naidu and Manilal, Gandhis second son) were arrested. Four hundred police took part in the rdid on the Bombay Congress headquarters and arrested the president and all the official staff. When those arrested were being taken to the police station a crowd of some thousands surrounded the lorry and stoned the police, w’ho had to fight their way out.
