OBITUARY

REV. ROBERT ROBERTSON. The late Rev. Robert Robertson, whose death occurred early this wefek, was born at Chirnside, Berwickshire, Scotland, in 1871. He came out to New Zealand 27 years ago, after having spent a short period in Ceylon with his only sister, who was for 20 years a missionary in India. Upon his arrival in New Zealand he engaged in evangelistic work in the North Island, and during (hat time he married Miss Nellie Anderson, of Hawkes Bay. He later took over the position of seamen's missionary in Dunedin and about 14 years ago he joined the Baptist ministry. He served for two years at 'Mornington, six years at Mosgiel, four years at Oamaru, and then came to Invercargill. He leaves a widow and a family.

MR. ARCHIBALD McEWAN.

The late Mr. Archibald McEwan, whose death occurred at his residence, Leet Street, on Thursday, at the age of 84 years, was an old and highly respected resident of Invercargill. The late Mr. McEwan was a native of Glasgow and was a sailmaker by trade. He was engaged in his occupation on a number of sailing vessels in his youth, but came out to New Zealand about 60 years ago. He set up in business as a sailmaker and draper in Invercargill and took an active interest in civic affairs, having served for a term as a councillor. He retired from business some years ago, but continued to lead an active life. He was an enthusiastic bowler 4 ar.d a member of the Northend Bowling Club, where he played during the past season. He was predeceased by his wife by about two years and leaves no family.
