COMPETITION TO LAPSE? PALMERSTON NORTH VIEWS. . (Per United Press Association.) Palmerston North, May 2. The decision of the New Zealand Rugby Union to return the Moasear Cup, at present held by the Palmerston North Boys’ High School, to the donors was discussed at this evening’s meeting of the Manawhenua Rugby Union, when Mr J. A. Colquhoun, one of the union’s delegates to the New Zealand body and coach of the High School team, stated that the school was at present endeavouring to arrange for the cup competition to be continued under the jurisdiction of the trustees of the trophy. “In view of the lack of competition it has been decided to withdraw the Moasear Cup and hand it back to the donors. Will you therefore kindly get the cup from the Palmerston North High School and return it to me at your earliest convenience, ’ stated the letter from the secretary o£ the New Zealand Rugby Union. “I think we can only return it,” compiented Mr Colquhoun. Mr F. Robinson: I think the Palmerston North High School should hold on to it. Mr R. E. Hatch: It is a disgrace to take it away.
