Rodcrique) was expected to sail for the South Cape at daybreak this morning. Both the Wetere and the Cowan were expected back yesterday, but the rough weather apparently delayed them. The oil tanker Paua arrived from Dunedin early yesterday morning with a cargo of bulk motor spirit. She loaded several empty drums, and sailed for Lyttelton in the evening.

Fine weather yesterday enabled both the oyster and fishing fleets to get out. Some good catches of groper were landed by local fishermen.

The Union Company’s collier Kaitoke which was scheduled to leave Westport at two o’clock this morning for Bluff direct, is due here on Sunday night and on Monday morning will commence discharging 750 tons of coal, proceeding afterwards to Dunedin.

The intercolonial passenger steamer Maheno which arrived at Lyttelton yesterday morning from Dunedin, sailed again last evening for Wellington. She will leave there to-morrow for Bluff direct, being due here on Monday morning and sailing for Melbourne direct after the arrival of the 6.15 p.m. train from Invercargill. The Karetu which sailed from Lyttelton yesterday afternoon for Timaru, Oamaru and Bluff, is due here on Sunday to complete discharge of her Australian cargo. After loading a certain quantity she will sail on Monday for Sydney direct. t The New Zealand Shipping Company’s steamer Middlesex is scheduled to leave Picton to-morrow for Bluff direct, being due here on Monday. Lyttelton is her next port of call after Bluff. Leaving Auckland at noon to-day for Bluff via Wellington, Lyttelton -and Dunedin, the Waipiata is due here at the end of next week to load back for Wellington and Auckland via ports. Napier cargo will be carried at direct rates by this steamer. Advice has been received that the arrival of the City of Lincoln at Auckland has been delayed about six days by the ship’s casting of a propeller. The vessel is en

route from New York with general merchandise to discharge at New Zealand ports. The City of Lincoln was scheduled to reach Auckland on Wednesday, but according to her wireless advice she now expects to arrive on Tuesday next. The loss of one blade from the propeller will necessitate the speed being moderated considerably to undue strain on the other blades. It will probably be necessary to repair the propeller at Auckland before the voyage is resumed. The six new tank motor ships, orders for which have been placed by the Anglo-Per-sian Oil Company, Ltd., with shipbuilding firms on the Tyne and the Tees, are all to be built on the Isherwood system. These six new vessels, valued at £3,500,000, will have an aggregate tonnage totalling approximately 60,000 tons. Three of these vessels are to be built at the yard of Messrs Palmers’ Shipbuilding and Iron Company, Ltd., at Hebburn-on-Tyne, and are to be Doxford engined ships. The engines for two of these vessels will be supplied by Messrs William Doxford and Sons, Ltd., while those for the third vessel will be supplied by Messrs Richardsons, Westgarth and Co., Ltd. the orders for the three remaining vessels have been placed on the Clyde, Messrs Lithgows, Ltd., are to build two at their Kingson shipyard, Fort Glasgow, while the third has been ordered from the Greenock Dockyard Company, Ltd., of Greenock.
