SURFACEMAN KILLED
RUN OVER BY TRAIN. (Per United Press Association.) Dunedin, February’ 6. While travelling on a velocipede on the railway track between Pukerangi and Flat Stream, Alexander Gray, a railway surfaceman, was struck by the night goods train to Cromwell about 10.45 o’clock on Sunday night. When picked up he was found to be seriously injured. He was placed in a van and conveyed to Middlemarch Hospital. Deceased, who was 45 years of age, and resided at. Flat Stream, left home on the velocipede on Sunday morning for Middlemarch and returned to Pukerangi in the afternoon. He stayed some time and apparently was on his way home when the train struck him. The inquest was opened at Middlemarch on Monday and evidence of identification was taken.
