THE MUSEUM BOMB

PUTTY AND FIREWORKS. FINDER OF MISSLE DETAINED. (Rec. 7.5 p.m.) London, February 4. Frank Biggs, aged 21, who found the museum bomb has been detained on a charge of possessing explosives under suspicious circumstances. It is now ascertained that the bomb’s contents were similar to those of fireworks mixed with putty. A cable from London on February 1 stated: Following a telephone message by a stranger giving the name of Ali Khan, who declared he had overheard Indian students plotting to blow up the Indian Room of the British Museum, the authorities, after an extensive search, discovered a circular package wrapped in newspaper to which a fuse was attached from a staircase near the Indian Gallery. Scotland Yard is examining the bomb, which obviously is home-made, with a view to determining whether it is destructive or a dummy. If the former the explosion would have caused irreparable! damage to the superb collection of religious sculpture.
