ALLEGED SHOOTING OF NAVAL OFFICERS. (Rec. 7.5 p.m.) Moscow, February 4. The Soviet denies the reported wholesale shooting of naval officers. A cable from Riga on February 3 stated.—The greatest massacre of officers since the early days of the Soviet revolution was reported when the Ogpu carried out the mass execution of all remaining ex-naval officers, amounting to several hundred, who had not entered the Soviet service, although they had remained in Russia. The victims were shot at various prison camps where they had been confined since last year. The relatives appealed to. co-religionists at Riga to hold requiems, which' are not permitted in Russia. Accordingly the Orthodox Russian Church is organizing a great panikhida to-morrow.
