IN A QUANDARY
SOUTH AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE MINISTER. COST OF NEW UNIFORMS. * ■ Adelaide, February 4. Delay in granting approval for the new militia uniforms is causing comment. It is stated that the Minister of Defence faces a quandary as the issue of new uniforms will mean the scrapping of others which cost £248,000, and if the Government’s objective of 35,000 enlistments is reached the cost of clothing them will be £210,000. Thus the saving of £150,000 on the camps this year will be offset by the cost of new uniforms and the scrapping of the old, totalling £458,000.
