VAGRANT VERSE
THE MISTAKE. (Written for the Southland Times.) We were merry men, Tom, Dick and Harry, Who swore and swore again We'd never marry. Freedom suited us; A home was but a prison, A wife an incubus, Marriage worth derision. Tom has seven sons, Dick now washes dishes, Harry promptly runs To meet his consort’s wishes. We were merry men, Tom, Dick and Harry— It’s quite beyond our ken We swore we wouldn't many. —Shaun O’SulEvan. Invercargill, February 4,
