Mrs McGill and family, after a pleasant holiday at the seaside, have returned to Invercargill. Misses Dickie and Burns, Mataura, have been visiting Mr and Mrs W. B. Hopcroft, Gummies Bush. Mrs and Miss Brotherston arc the guests of Miss Thompson, “The Ranch.” Mrs John Checketts, Invercargill, has been visiting her mother, Mrs George Stevenson, Havelock street. A party of six young ladies from Ermedale are enjoying a week’s camping out at Stewart Island, the party comprising Misses Milmine, Allison, Prosser and Fraser (3). Miss D. A most enjoyable evening was spent in the Fairfax hall last Tuesday, when the residents assembled to welcome home Mr and Mrs P. Sheridan, Mr G. Crawford acting as chairman. Mrs F. B. Woodward and Miss Woodward, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs Eccleton, left on Friday for Palmerston, before returning to Canterbury. On Wednesday evening the spacious rooms on the Riverton racecourse were well filled when the annual Otaitai Bush Picnic Dance took place, all parts of the district being represented. An energetic committee had arrangements well in hand, and a dainty supper was handed round. Mr Jack Thompson’s orchestra (Invercargill) supplied the music, while Miss N.
