GORE CHAT (From Our Correspondent.) Mrs C. R. Williamsoq. has returned to Christchurch. Mrs Agnew (Diptoh) is on a visit to her mother Mrs W. Kirk, Crewe street. Mrs F. Wallis, jnr. and family have returned from Riverton. Miss Blaikic has returned to Wanganui. Miss Taylor has returned from Christchurch. Mrs J. Harper and family have returned from Kaka Point. Mr and Mrs T. Fyfe have returned from a visit to Stewart-Island. Mrs J. A. Edwards has returned from Stewart Island. Mrs E. Mac Gibbon, Mrs S. Mac Gibbon, and Miss Ida Mac Gibbon have returned from Queenstown. Mrs H. G. Wallis has returned from Timaru. Miss Acton-Adams (Kaikoura) is the guest of Mrs J. Er Rogers, Irk street. Miss L. MacArthur (Dunedin), is on a visit to Mrs A. A. Mac Gibbon, “The Retreat.” Mrs T. L. Piller is on a visit to Christchurch. The Misses Todd (2), who have been on a visit to Mrs C. R. Green, Joseph street, have returned to Timaru. OTAUTAU NOTES (From Our Correspondent.) Mr and Mrs R. A. P. Cox were visiting friends in the township during the week. Miss McClean, Dunedin, is the guest of Nurse Thomson. Mr and Mrs M. Gonley arc at present on holiday in Dunedin. Mrs J. Kirk was the guest of Mr and Mrs H. Mathieson, Ringway Ridges, for a few days during the week. Misses Lock (Nelson) and Kirkpatrick (Gisborne) have been visiting friends in the township, and were the guests of Mr and Mrs Rountree. Miss de Joux has been staying with Mr and Mrs H. Beange. Mrs E. Matheson has returned from her visit to Queenstown. Miss C. Atkinson was the guest of Mr and Mrs Muirhead, Aparima, during the week. Miss McMurray, who has been the guest of Mr and Mrs A. Liddell, has returned to Dunedin. Miss O. Walker, Gladstone, was the guest of Mr and Mrs T. J. Walker during the week. Mrs Angus is on a visit to friends at Hampden. Mr. and Mrs. and Miss Dalgairn, Invercargill, were the guests of Misses Malcoln and Mathieson, Bayswater, last week. Mrs. Eastlake is visiting friends in Damaru. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Thomson returned from their tour of Central Otago on Saturday evening. Miss Mackrell was the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. and Miss Kennedy last week. Miss Hinton, Invercargill, who has been the guest of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Collie, returned home yesterday. Misses Seatter (2), Mrs. J. Kirk and Mr. W. Seatter motored to Lakes Manapouri and Te Anau during the week end. Mr. and Mrs. G. McMillan were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. H. D. Collie during the week-end. RIVERTON GOSSIP (From Our Correspondent.) Mr George Robertson and Miss M. Robertson, South Riverton, who have been holidaying in the north, have returned. Mrs McGill and family, after a pleasant holiday at the seaside, have returned to Invercargill. Misses Dickie and Burns, Mataura, have been visiting Mr and Mrs W. B. Hopcroft, Gummies Bush. Mrs and Miss Brotherston arc the guests of Miss Thompson, “The Ranch.” Mrs John Checketts, Invercargill, has been visiting her mother, Mrs George Stevenson, Havelock street. A party of six young ladies from Ermedale are enjoying a week’s camping out at Stewart Island, the party comprising Misses Milmine, Allison, Prosser and Fraser (3). Miss D. Thompson has returned from Lumsden. Mrs Officer, of Westside, is visiting Mrs McPherson, Invercargill. A most enjoyable evening was spent in the Fairfax hall last Tuesday, when the residents assembled to welcome home Mr and Mrs P. Sheridan, Mr G. Crawford acting as chairman. Dancing was indulged in, and a first class supper was provided. Mrs Thomson, Senior, Otautau, has been the guest of Mr J. and Misses McKay, Havelock street. Mr and Mrs F. L. Sandrey and son motored back to Christchurch, after spending a tew days with Mr and Mrs G. L. Sandrey, Gummies Bush. Mr and Mrs P. Harvey and son, Christ'tfhurch, have been visiting friends at Gummies Bush. Mrs Symon and family, Invercargill, are at The Rocks. Miss Bowman, who has been staying at the seaside, has returned to Invercargill. Mr and Mrs Alex Williams, accompanied by Miss Evans, Wellingon, have been on a visit to friends in the district. The visitors left for home on Thursday. Miss E. Gray, The Highlands, is spending a holiday at Athol. Mrs Foster and family, Invercargill, are the guests of Mr and Mrs W. J. Winton, Palmerston street. Mrs H. Pierce, Winton, is at the seaside. Miss Edith Sandrey, who has been holidaying with her parents, Mr and Mrs G. L. Sandrey, Gummies Bush, has returned from Stewart Island, and leaves next week for Dunedin, en route for Christchurch. Mrs C. M. Lindsay and family, Winton, are at the favourite watering place. Miss Dell Thomas, who has been the guest of Mrs Hancock, has returned to Otautau. Mrs Scott and family, Wallacetown, are holidaying in Riverton. Mrs Lumsden and family, who have been staying at The Rocks, have returned to Otautau. Mrs F. Wallis and family, Gore, are holidaying at The Rocks. Mr and Mrs R. Newton, Auckland, are visiting old friends and acquaintances in town and district. Miss Valerie Blackford, Dunedin, is holidaying at the seaside. Mrs W. S. Brown is spending a fortnight at The' Rocks. ,

Mrs Thomson, Sent., Palmerston street, who has' been on an extended holiday in Dunedin, returned home during . the week. •Mrs Cunningham, who has been staying with her parents at South Riverton, has returned to Christchurch.

Mr and Mrs R. Pauli, Wyndham, are holidaying at The Rocks. Mr and Mrs Horace Anderson and family, after a pleasant holiday, have returned to Winton.

Miss Perry, Wyndham, is visiting The Rocks.

Mrs Porteous and family have returned to their home at Ota'utau. Mr and Mrs Pettigrew, Gore, who have been holidaying here, have returned\home. Mr and Mrs Stocker, who have been visiting Mrs Stocker’s sister, Mrs S. D. McKay, have left for their home in Timaru. Mr and Mrs J. Ward, Invercargill, are the guests of Mr and Mrs James Fleck, South Riverton.

Mr and Mrs Pearce, after visiting Mr and Mrs R. Pearce, South Riverton, have returned to Christchurch. -

Mrs H. W. McDonald and family, Wyndham, who have been staying with -Mr and Mrs R. Hayles, have returned home. Mrs Napper and family, Woodlands, are at the seaside.

Mesdames Gardiner and McGill, Gore, are ■guests at the Globe Hotel. Miss Walker, Otautau, is visiting Mr and Mrs W. Armstrong. Mr and Mrs T. J. Price, accompanied by Miss Price, leave to-day (Saturday) on a holiday to be spent in Dunedin. Mr and Mrs A. A. Jones, Wellington, who spent ,a fortnight in the south, left on Wednesday for the north. Mrs McLaughlin, Dunedin, is visiting Mrs W. Hawke.

Mrs F. B. Woodward and Miss Woodward, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs Eccleton, left on Friday for Palmerston, before returning to Canterbury. On Wednesday evening the spacious rooms on the Riverton racecourse were well filled when the annual Otaitai Bush Picnic Dance took place, all parts of the district being represented. An energetic committee had arrangements well in hand, and a dainty supper was handed round. Mr Jack Thompson’s orchestra (Invercargill) supplied the music, while Miss N.
