DAMAGES AWARDED
HOTEL MANAGER’S CLAIM. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, December 19. His Honour, Mr. Justice MacGregor today entered judgment in terms of the award of the arbitrator in the case of Frederick Henry Rennie against Margaret Diamond of Napier in respect to the Central Hotel which he managed for a tiriie. He. claimed £745 wages and money paid out on behalf of defendant, and other sums for which he had' made himself responsible. Defendant counterclaimed for £5OO for alleged failure to keep proper books, and for alleged negligence in employing a barman who was convicted of bookmaking. She also claimed the accounts. His Honour at the hearing ordered the questions at issue, excluding the claim for £5OO damages, to, be tried before an arbitrator.. The award gave plaintiff £699 8/and defendant £6O/6/7 on her claim for accounts. His Honour dismissed the claim for damages and ordered defendant to pay rhe arbitrator’s fee and plaintiff’s costs, witnesses’ expenses and disbursements.
