ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES
BODY WASHED ASHORE. (Per United Press Association.) Wanganui, December 4. Mrs. Jessie Partington, aged 53, wife of the gaol warder at Wanganui, was missed from her home early this morning. Her body was found washed ashore at Castlecliff this afternoon. It is believed that she. jumped into the river near the town bridge the tide carrying the body to sea, a distance of five or six miles. MOTOR LORRY LEAVES ROAD. Gisborne, December 4. Serious injuries were sustained by a young man, W. Fountain, while driving a wool lorry near the Tangihau Station when the lorry left the road, rolling down a steep hillside and somersaulting several times. Fountain’s injuries include broken ribs and an injured back. BODY FOUND IN BUSH. Wellington, December 4. Tire body of Wm. Shearer, aged 81, of Karori, who had been missing since noon on Saturday, was found to-day in the bush at the back of the cemetery. Death was apparently due to exhaustion. DROWNED WHILE FISHING. Hokitika, December 4. George Tainui, a Maori, was drowned in the Arahura River last evening while engaged in dragging a net for flounders. His body was recovered this morning. He was a single man and aged 40 years.
