MINING TRAGEDY
COLLIERY IN LANARKSHIRE. (Rec. 8.15 p.m.) London, December 4. There was a poignant tragedy at a colliery in Lanarkshire when two men were buried by a fall of a hundred tons from the roof. Rescuers, encouraged by hearing a faint voice, reached the spot and saved one, who was injured. The other was in the arms of a rescuer and was being given a drink of water when he saw another fall coming. He said: “Goodbye, boys,” and was struck on the head and killed. The body was again buried.
