GRAIN REPORT. Messrs Donald Reid and Company, Ltd., Dunedin, report as under:— Oats.—No interest is being taken in this market, and these conditions will no doubt last until actual oats are available. Though very few lines remain unsold in the country and stores, millers are not making inquiries, apparently having sufficient to tide them over until the new season’s grain is available Shipping remains the same, viz.: A grade 3/74, B grade 3/4, f.0.b., s.i. The equivalent to farmers at their stations would be 3/2 and 3/-, respectively, sacks extra. . , , . . Wheat. —Apart from fowl wheat inquiries this market is quite dead. The Pool authorities who will be controlling a much larger area than last season are already selling forward to millers; half a million sacks have been disposed of in Canterbury. Values remain unchanged, viz.: Tuscan 5/9, Hunters 6/-, Velvet 6/6 sacks extra, on truck, country stations. Fowl wheat is selling freely ex store at prices up to 6/6 sacks extra.

Chaff. —There are few consignments arriving, but as the demand has now slackened off, plenty is available for all inquiries. Southland is supplying the bulk of the consignments. Canterbury prices are much too high to fit in with those ruling here at present. Best oaten sheaf is worth up to £6 5/- sacks extra, ex truck, Dunedin. Very little will be taken into store, all space being required for wool work. Potatoes. —The season for old potatoes is now practically finished and a larger quantity than usual still remains to be disposed of. Value to-day for the better lines is £4 ex store, Dunedin, and sales at this price are by no means easy to effect. New potatoes from the north are worth £9 and £lO f.o.b. Wellington, and consignments are coming to hand freely. Local lines are not yet in plentiful supply, but the next fortnight should see them arriving in much larger quantities. LONDON MARKETS. The New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board has received the following cable from its London office, dated November 29, 1929, advising Smithfield delivered prices averaged for week ending that date as follows :— (Prices for the previous week are also shown).
