NARROW ESCAPE
NURSE RESCUED FROM DROWNING. (Per United Press Association.J Dunedin, November 14. A young woman, Miss Calder, a nurse, had a narrow escape from drowning while swimming off the St. Clair beach. When 100 yards out she was seen to throw her arms up signalling for help. Richard Coxon swam out and got hold of the young woman, but could make no headway against the undertow. Ivan Turnbull then swam to their assistance with a lifeline against a strong current and the three got ashore exhausted. Nurse Calder, on recovering, said she would have drowned but for the youths’ promptness and courage.
