AN EXTRA DAY
HOUSE SITS ON MONDAYS. (From Our Parliamentary Reporter.) Wellington, October 4. The House of Representatives to-day decided that from Monday next until the end of the session, Monday should be included as a sitting day. In the absence of the Prime Minister, the Hon. G. W. Forbes moved for an alteration in the present sitting days. Mr Coates asked why the motion fixed the sitting hours on Monday from 2.30 to 10.30 and not from 7.30 as had been the custom in the past. Mr Forbes said that it was his intention to move at the conclusion of to-day’s business that the House adjourn to 7.30 on Monday evening and future Mondays could be provided for when the Prime Minister returned to his seat. He moved accordingly at 5.30 this evening.
