REMARKABLE STORY

WOMEN MARRY EACH OTHER,

ONE POSES AS A MAN

London, September 21

A curious story of two Glasgow young women, both 26, going through a marriage ceremony in order that they should not be separated was told to the Greenock Court when Mary Brown was sent to gaol for 40 days for false declarations. Brown, dressed as a man, induced a Catholic priest to perform the ceremony in 1926 and thereafter she and her friend lived together in Ireland, Brown reassuming female attire, but working to support the other girl. The Magistrate described the remarkable affair as most difficult to decide.—Australian Press Association.
