QUALITY OF BUTTER

NEW ZEALAND METHODS

AUSTRALIANS IMPRESSED.

Sydney, June 6

At the dairy managers’ conference, Mr Mclnnes, director of dairying, said the decline in the New South Wales butter quality was largely caused by reckless grading. Mr A. Sweaney, who recently visited the Dominion, declared that New Zealand was “putting it all over us.” A delegate asked Mr Sweaney whether he had tried New Zealand methods since returning. Mr Sweaney: Yes. He then told the conference how successful he had been, his observations awakening great interest. It. was announced that, the Department of Agriculture intends to convene conferences in the various dairying districts for the purpose of heart-to-heart, talks between managers and suppliers, stressing the value of the New Zealand methods for raising the quality of local butter.—Australian Press Association.
