CONSERVATIVES RETAIN SEATS.

London, June 5.

The Oxford University election (two seats) in which proportional representation was used, resulted in the election of the Conservatives, Lord Hugh Cecil and Sir Charles Oman. Lord Cecil secured 8012 in the first preference, Professor Gilbert Murray 3277, and Sir Charles Oman 2174. Lord Cecil’s surplus of 2190 transferred to the others resulted: Sir Charles Oman 4112, and Professor Murray 3529.

The 1924 election resulted: Lord Hugh Cecil (C) 4320; Sir Charles Oman (C) 2968; Professor G. Murray (Lib.) 2832.
