Decorative Dress Boxes

A pile of cardboard dress-boxes, although they may contain the dainty frocks which are too frail to hang with the rest in the wardrobe, do not add to the charm of one’s bedroom if there is no convenient cupboard elsewhere in which to hide them from view. A box ottoman is a useful receptacle in which such boxes may be bestowed,' and the old-fashioned type of dressing table with chintz flounce to the floor, such as is having an immense vogue just now for the period room, will conceal quite a number of boxes behind its folds. A plain deal box with hinged lid, covered with cretonne and raised on castors, also makes a good storage place. If the top of the lid be padded and cushioned it may be utilized as a window seat. A cabin trunk with a slip-over cover of cretonne or other material to match the hanging in the room would do equally well. If, on the other hand, space is so cramped that the top of the wardrobe is the only spot that can be devised, the dress-boxes may be made to look much more attractive if they are covered with gay wallpaper. When wallpaper to match that on the walls of the room is used, the effect is to camouflage the boxes very completely while they are placed against tire wall.
