TIMBER DISPUTE
POLICE PROTECTION PROVIDED. (Rec. 9.4. p.m.) Melbourne, June 4. Volunteer workers at the timber yards began work to-day under police protection provided by the Government. Scores of strikers’ pickets gathered about the mills and tried to induce the volunteers to withdraw, but the police moved them on.
