SCOTTISH SOCIETY. (From Our Correspondent.) The monthly meeting of the Wyndham and District St. Andrews Scottish Society was held in the Masonic Hall on Friday evening, when there was a large attendance of members and associates, the evening being devoted to an address by Rev. C. J. Tocker (Invercargill) on “Sir William Robertson Nichol.” At commencement of proceedings Chief Alex. Ross, Chieftain Hugh McKerrow and the Rev. Tocker were played in from the door to the platform by Piper W. Cochrane, “Spurhead,” Edendale, to the strains of “The Road to the Isles.” At. the conclusion of a community sing Chief Alex Ross suitably introduced the speaker of the evening, who gave a wide and comprehensive address on the life of Sir William Robertson Nichol, which was attentively listened to and highly appreciated by all present. During the evening the following musical programme was submitted: Song, Mr. Lums, den (Seaward Downs) ; instrumental trio, Crosbie Family (Menzies Ferry) ami Miss Webb; song, Mr. D. N. A. Macpherson; sword dance, Misses R. Grant, Dunstan, Templeton and Johnstone; song, Mrs H. J. Murphy (Wyndham). At a suitable interval Chieftain 11. McKerrow moved a vote of thanks to the speaker, and all who had assisted with me. musical programme.
