EFFORT TO SETTLE TROUBLE. (Rec. 11.5 p.m.) Sydney, May 13. The Mayor of Newcastle has communicated with the Prime Minister and acting Premier of this State asking that another effort to settle the coal trouble be made before the Royal Commission commences its long, tedious investigation. He believes that the miners’ representatives are in the mood to come to terms which will enable the mines to re-open almost immediately.— Australian Press Association.
