Mr E. K. Sim left for Wellington by Sun day night’s train. Mr D. Stalker returned to Invercargill by Saturday evening’s express. Mr F. Melvin, who has been transferred to Christchurch travelled by the through express last evening. Sir Francis Boys arrived in Invercargill on Saturday and left again for the north by the express last evening. Mr. E. A. Hamel, of Dunedin, who has been judging at the Winter Show, returned home by the express last evening. An Auckland telegram records the sudden death on Saturday morning of Mr H. P. Kissling, manager of the New Zealand Insurance Company. Mr Thomas Fleming, of Timaru, is at present on a visit, to Invercargill and is acting as one of the judges at the Winter Show. In the recent State examination for maternity nurses, Nurses P. Dunbar, .C. Meredith, E. MacKinnon and J. McEwan were successful and passed with honours. The Premier announced on Saturday that Mr Guy Norman Harris, a solicitor of Auckland, had been appointed a stipendiary magistrate in succession to Mr Luxford, recently appointed Chief Judge at Samoa. Mr James Milne, president of the Southland A. and P. Association, was admitted to the Park Hospital on Friday night to undergo an operation. He is reported to be progressing favourably. Mr J. Lenihan, headmaster of the East Gore School, left on Sunday morning as the Southland delegate to the annual conference of the New Zealand Educational Institute, which takes place in Wellington this week. Messrs R. A. Anderson, H. F. Drewe and F. Chillwell, who have been visiting Auckland in connection with the opening of a new chocolate factory under the management of Milk Products, returned to Invercargill by the express on Saturday morning.
