AUCKLAND TRAMWAYS

APPEAL BOARD. EMPLOYEES LOSE CONFIDENCE. (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, May 10. The Tramway Municipal Bus Employees’ Union at two largely attended meetings passed a resolution that after hearing the report in Massick’s appeal case it viewed with concern the findings of the Tramways Appeal Board during the past ten years and respectfully asked that the whole matter be investigated with a view to reconstituting the board in such a manner as will restore confidence in it.

The Parliamentary Labour Party, the Auckland Representation Committee, Tramways Federation and other Auckland unions are being asked to support the action being taken. An amendment of the Tramways Act is desired to permit as chairman of the appeal board, if deemed necessary, any person other than the senior presiding magistrate in the board district.
