REFORM PARTY
CONFIDENCE EXPRESSED IN LEADER. (Per United Press Association.) Wellington, May 10. At a meeting of the Reform Party, the Hon. J. G. Coates gave a resume of the work it had accomplished. The beneficial enactments were referred to and the opinion was expressed that, although the policy followed to restore financial stability and the preaching of a gospel of hard work and thrift without extravagance in living, coupled with the fact that they had borrowed only for developmental work which would bring results, may not have made the late Government popular, the public would later realize that it was the only sound and safe course to pursue. Comments on events since the general election were made and . plans for the future referred to. Mr Coates eulogized the late Mr Massey who had a truly Imperial outlook. A vote of confidence in Mr Coates was passed and the meeting decided to send a letter of remembrance to Dame Massey on the anniversary of the former Prime Minister’s death. >
