SUEZ CANAL RETURNS
RECEIPTS AND TONNAGE. London, May 9. Tito annual return of the Suez Canal for 1928 shows that the transit, receipts were 222,396,208 francs, while the total tonnage through the canal w'as 31,905,902, of which the British portion was 18,124,074, Dutch 3,329,628, German 3,300,017, French 1,926,969 and Italian 1,649,792. The chief users were the Peninsular and allied lines, with a tonnage of 3,213,000, the British Tanker Co., 2,583,000, and the Ellerman group.—Australian Press Association.
