MOTOR REGISTRATION
PRESENT SYSTEM CONDEMNED. (Per United Press Association.) Napier, May 9. . The present system of numbering motor cars by changing the plates each year was condemned as an absolute waste of money by a county council deputation which met the Premier this morning and it was added that the inconvenience and annoyance caused to motorists was not justified. The deputation urged the wisdom of adopting the English system of registration which, it was contended, would give greater satisfaction. “There was a (leal to .say on both sides,” said Sir Joseph Ward. “Recently the motor trade interests said it was their considered opinion that our present system of registration was the best in the world. I was against the present system myself but what those men said was an eye-opener to me. However, the whole matter will receive close scrutiny.”
