WAIAU COLLIE CLUB.

On the 16th and 17th inst. the above club held its annual fixture and, as the weather was all to be desired, a good support by the public was recorded, approximately 50 cars lining the field. Visitors were noticed from the surrounding districts and dogs were brought, from Dipton, Mossburn, Nightcaps, Mt. Linton, Ohai and Centre Bush. Mr C. Gardner, who has viewed many trials, stated that the meeting was well up to standard, and expressed pleasure in the active interest young members were taking in the trials. The president, Mr Turnbull, wished to thank all for their support, the competitors, some of whom came a long distance, the public for their attendance, Mr Evans for his most satisfactory judging and Mrs Glaseon for their catering. Results:— MAIDEN HEADING. 440yds, head and hold in ring: Time, Smin. N. McGregor’s Sweep 38 1 R. Turnbull’s Fan 37 2 J. R. Anderson’s Fan 36 3 R. O. Gardner’s Black and Robin Gardner’s Jack (equal) 31 .. .. 4 Sweep made a good head in good time Imin 15secs, pulling back in a good line in 3mins 15secs, yapped once and finished in 6mins losecs. R. Turnbull’s Fan made a very similar head in lmin 15secs, pulled to ring in 4mins 35secs, but let the sheep out of the wing three times, finishing in 6mins 55secs. LONG PULL. 500yds, head, hold in ring and yard. Time, 12mins. J. R. Anderson’s Maid 39 ...... 1 J. Purdue’s Spot 38 2 F. Harris’s Storm 37 3 R. Anderson’s Glen 30 4 Maid made a fair head, but stopped a few times in 2mins 15sees. She pulled to ring in perfect time 4mins 50secs, but let the sheep out of wing once. She drove to the yard in good style and yarded in 7mins 45secs. Spot made a good head in lmin 30sees, but in pulling back to wing was inclined to shoulder the sheep off the course. He reached the ring in Smins 30secs. He let the sheep out of the ring three times, and yarded in lOmins 45secs. Storm, in heading, came in on his east slightly, but finally going well out and heading out of

sight. He brought the sheep back coolly' and steadily, but struck one bad sheep which broke. Storm recovered nicely and pulled to ring, yarded, finishing just on time. MAIDEN HUNT. Dog not having won a first prize. Time, 12mins. R. Gardner’s Sweep 32 1 R. Turnbull’s Help 31 - J. Russell’s Black 30 3 N. McGregor’s Sharp 25 I Sweep came below the first sets of flags, recovered and finished through second and third flags in good style in lOmins 30secs. Help hunted well, with good force, but headed once after passing the second flags; recovered and completed the course in good style. Black made a similar run, but was lacking in noise.

Don made a splendid hunt right through, completing the course in 3mins 35sccs. in very good style with plenty of noise. Sharp kept well up to the sheep, with good force the whole distance finished in 6mins steecs. Bob made a very similar run, making it an impossibility to separate him from Sharp. Sharp hunted in his usual good style, but slightly split the sheep at the third flags. Otherwise he would have been with Bob and Sharp for second place.

Spot made a good head, pulling steadily in a good line to the ring. He held very well. Both Darkie and Black made a fair head, pulled well, but barked occasionally. Specials: Most points throughout, trials. — Mr N. McGregor (Mt. Linton). Youngest competitiors to gain 10 points. Robin Gardner (The Cliffs). First day weight of aheep judging.—Robin Gardner.
