GORE SOCIAL NOTES
Mr and Mrs J. Gordon have returned to Palmerston.
Mrs A. J. Gibbs has returned from Christ church.
Mr and Mrs P. Delargey, and Mr T. Taylor, motored to Christchurch where Mr. Taylor will make his home. Mrs C. Sutherland, Timaru, is the guest of her daughter, Mrs W. D. Shelton. Mrs J. T. Martiu has returned to Wellington. Miss F. Mac Gibbon (Dannevirke) is on a visit to Invercargill. Mrs Catchpole, North Island, is on a visit to Mrs E. Mac Gibbon, East Gore. During the week social afternoons were given by Mesdames Campbell and H. C. Mac Gibbon.
Miss N. Wyeth is the guest of her sister, Mrs H. A. Price, Denton Street. ' Mrs Valentine (New Plymouth) is the guest of Mrs Valentine, East Gore. Bridge hostesses for the week were Mesdames W. Kirk, Oswin and F. Wallis Jnr. Mr and Mrs J. C. Ray have returned from a trip to Auckland. Mr and Mrs A. T. Newman have returned from a trip north. The opening day of the Ladies’ Golf Club took place on Tuesday last, under ideal weather conditions. A keenly contested match, Captain versus Deputy-Captain, was played, resulting in a win for the Captain, after which afternoon tea was partaken of in the sunshine.
Mrs T. L. Piller entertained a few of her friends at bridge on Friday evening in honour of Mrs Speedy. Those present were Mesdames A. A. Mac Gibbon, F. V. Piper, W. Kirk, J. Brown, F. Wallis, Senr., D. Dunham, J. A. Blaikie, H. Oswin, G. Sadd, R. Aitken, J. Ussher, M. Green, H. R. Robertson, W. Williams, A. F. Houston, J. E. Rogers, J. M. Boyne, A. L. Dolamore and MLss Rogers.
The bridge circle met. at the Women’s Club rooms on Monday evening. There was a good attendance and an enjoyable time was spent. Among those present were Mesdames J. A. Blakie (president), J. E. Rogers, W. Kirk, J. Brown, D. Dunham, W. McAra, C. Sutton, L. Hawk, F. Wallis Jnr., R. W. McCreath, H. A. Price, Allison, A. J. Hawk, A. L. Dolamore, A. T. Pettigrew, R. B. Bannerman. A. A. Mac Gibbon, J. A. Edwards G. C. Hamilton, F. N. Murray, J. E. Ussher, F. Wallis, A. F. Houston, T. L. Piller, J, M. Boyne, Oswin, Williams, Sadd, Speedy, Lillie, H. C. Mac Gibbon, Connolly, Hazlett, R. Aitken, Misses F. and M. Mac Gibbon and F. Hutchison.
