MIDDLE SCHOOL

ANNUAL MEETING

PROCEEDINGS MAY BE LIVELY COMMITTEE.AND BOARD The annual meeting of householders of the Middle School, which takes place on Tuesday evening, promises to.be full of interest and it is not improbable that something in the nature of a lively debate will occur.

The Middle School Committee considers that it has strong grounds for resenting the intervention of the chairman of the Southland Education Board in matters relating to the financing of the interna! heating system of the school and other matters. Holding that an important principle is involved, the committee, it is understood, will appeal to householders at the annual meeting to support it in the stand it is taking. The whole position will be placed before the householders and some interesting disclosures should be made.

When approached by a Times reporter with the request that he should make a statement on the subject, the chairman of the Middle School Committee (the Rev. J. L. Robinson) declined to say anything.

The chairman of the Southland Education Board (Mr A. W. Jones), who was also approached in the matter, stated that, in his opinion, any action he had taken in the matter had been fully justified. The following nominations have been received for the Middle School Committee:— Messrs Rev. J. L. Robinson, J. E. Thomson, J. A. B. Walter, F. Henderson, G. C. Batcheler, J. J. Hynd, W. Stewart, W. P. Wicks, H. W. Kerr, all members of the present committee, and Messrs J. J. Moore, J. England, T. Brown, F. Johnston and C. Hopgood.
