WAIKATO DIOCESE

CATHEDRAL PARISHIONERS

LIVELY ANNUAL MEETING

(Per United Press Association.)

Hamilton, April 17

The dissension in the Waikato diocese was further evidenced to-night when the cathedral parishioners, numbering 600, held their annual meeting. Proceedings were very lively. Dean Barnett stated definitely that the election of officers turned on the question whether the parishioners approved or disapproved of the policy and actions of the bishop in the administration of the diocese.

Mr D. Hay, a supporter of the bishop, said he had invited the bishop to attend as the issue had been made one between him and the dean.

The bishop entered and made his way to the platform amid cheers.

The election of officers went in favour of the anti-bishop party by majorities of about four to three.
