FOREIGN SECURITIES
FLOTATION IN AMERICA.
FIGURES FOR PAST YEAR
(Rec. 7.15 p.m.) Washington, April 16. The Department of Commerce has announced that the flotation of foreign securities in the United States in 1928 aggregated 1,487,000,000 dollars, being the greatest in any year with the exception of 1927, when 1,592,000,000 dollars were floated. The great bulk of the 1928 financing, however, was done during the first six months of the year, flotations for that period being two and a half times those of the second half of the year. This slump was due to the disturbed credit situation. Germany with 292,000,000 dollars and Canada with 237,000,000 dollars were the largest borrowers in 1928. American foreign investments between 1924 and 1928 totalled 130,000,000,000 dollars. —Australian Press Association.
