LATE DELIVERY.

STATEMENT BY MINISTER.

Wellington, March 6. In a statement to-day the Minister of Education deals lengthily with the question of the late delivery of books for the new school syllabus, setting forth the reasons and stating that the difficulties had been overcome. All books on arithmetic are now on sale. English textbooks for standards three to five are ready and standard six will be issued in a few days. History for standards three to five are on sale and supplies for six will be sent out in a day or two. The greatest difficulty has been found in producing the geographies but he understands standard three are on sale and four, five and six are in press. The Minister also states that the public are getting more for their money than « was provided in the old hooka.
