THE ELEANOR BOLLING
APPROACHING NEW ZEALAND COAST. “EVERY MINUTE COUNTS.” (Per United Press Association.) Auckland, February 8. The latest report received by Mr. R. G. Brophy second in command of the Byrd Expedition, is that the Eleanor Bolling is approaching the New Zealand coast at top speed. . “I have been in constant touch with the vessel,” said Mr. Brophy, “and have issued instructions that every ounce of speed that can be got out of the ship must be obtained so that she shall reach Dunedin on February 14, instead of the following day. The Eleanor Bolling must be away again 36 hours after her arrival. During that time the vessel will load 500 tons of gear, including an aeroplane, motor car, 5000 gallons of benzine and 4000 gallons of other oils. Every minute counts now,” he said in conclusion. Mr. Brophy will leave Auckland to-night or to-morrow morning for Wellington and Dunedin.
