An indication of the pressure of Supreme Court work in Auckland at present was given on Thursday last, when Mr Justice Frazer was hearing a salesman’s claim for commission from a building firm (states the New Zealand Herald). The hearing went on past the usual time for adjournment, and his Honour drew counsel’s attention to the fact that he could not continue on that nor on any other day prior to Christmas. “If you don’t finish to-day you cannot come on again before the vacation,” said his Honour, “and after that, goodness knows where I may be.” Mr Beckerley, representing the plaintiff, indicated that he did not wish to weary his Honour, but was promptly reassured. “Never mind me. I'm used to being wearied,” his Honour said with a smile. Counsel took full advantage of the latitude, and the case was continued to a finish. Make light of the heaviest task.
