FINANCIAL SUCCESS
PRESENTATION OF MESSIAH. The final meeting of the Messiah Performance Committee was held in Mr Charles Gray’s rooms, last evening, Mr B. C. Galloway being in the chair. The chairman expressed great pleasure at the success of the recitals and moved a very hearty vote of thanks to the members of the orchestra and choir for their splendid efforts. A special vote of thanks was accorded Mr Gray for his work, the committee unanimously agreeing that much of the success of the recitals was due to the conductor. Votes of thanks were also accorded to Mrs A. E. H. Bath, accompaniste, First Church officers for the use of Stobo Hall, and the Operatic Society for the use of their rooms. It is pleasing to record that the recent performances of the Messiah were a financial success. It was resolved that the next meeting of the committee be held early in February for the purpose of considering the resuscitation of the Invercargill Musical Union and making arrangements for performances next year.
