MANSLAUGHTER
SIX YEARS’ IMPRISONMENT. Melbourne, December 21. Joseph Livingstone, aged 60, was sentenced to six years’ gaol for the manslaughter of Margaret Fearon, his sister-in-law. Mr Justice Mann described the crime as revolting and without the slightest provocation.— Australian Press Association. Mrs Margaret Fearon, who was housekeeper for her brother-in-law, Joseph Livingstone, and was aged 66, was found dead at her home at Frankston seaside resort on October 21 with severe gashes in her neck. The body was found face downward in the back yard. Livingstone, who is an estate agent, was discovered in a front room with his throat cut, but he was able to speak. He told the police that he intended to commit suicide, but changed his mind.
