Measuring one and a-half inches in length a piece of a man’s skull was produced in Newcastle Police Court, when John George Richardson, labourer, was charged with causing grievious bodily harm to John O’Keefe by striking him on the head with a bottle. The incident was alleged to have occurred during a drunken brawl. O’Keefe hovered between life and death for some time. The skull wm forced into the brain, but O’Keefe made a remarkable recovery, and gave evidence against Richardson, who was bound over for 12 months.
