TUATAPERE
SEA BIRDS. (From Our Correspondent.) One day last week a youth picked up a dead sea bird on his father’s farm at Tuatapere. Large flocks of the birds have been seen of late and it is suggested that the rough weather is driving them inland for shelter. A fine specimen of a sea-horse, which ; with about a dozen others was caught at Colac some years ago, was shown to the Tuatapere correspondent of the Times. The specimen was 10 inches long and the others of the collection varied from five inches up. The owner, Mr R. Cook, stated that at one time the sea-horses were frequently to be seen at Colac.
