A Brightened Kitchen
(From Our Correspondent.) London. In these days of limited space and the shortage of domestic help the kitchen-din-ing room has come into fashion. When furnishing this room always remember that it is primarily a work room, where the business of preparing meals, etc., is carried on, and it should be furnished adequately but simply. I recently saw a charming example of this carried out in distempered pale leaf green, with the woodwork painted a dark shade. On the floor was a dark green linoleum and fibre matting in browns and blues. Blue and white check gingham and pale blue were used for the attractive curtains and pelmet, and the chairs had loose cushions covered in blue. Besides these colours touches of fox-glove pink were to be seen in the pottery and other accessories. The furniture was of beech and the coloured woodcut had narrow black frames. It was a truly delightful kitchendining room.
