FIRES
DWELLINGS DESTROYED. (Per United Press Association.) Wairoa, October 15. A fire last night totally destroyed the house and contents belonging to Niri Whaanga, well known sheepfarmer at Nuhuka. Nothng was saved. The insurances are not available, but the owner is a heavy loser, many priceless Maori curios being destroyed. It is believed the cause of the outbreak was an electric iron being left turned on. Mr. R. J. Joblin’s residence at Waiaati was destroyed, together with its contents. Nothing was saved. The whole family was away at neighbours at the time. The insurances are £750 on the house and £520 on the contents.
