FARMERS’ DAIRY FEDERATION LTD.

To the Editor. Sir,—Previously I advised No. 3 Shareholder not to rush into print making wild statements until he was sure of his ground. Apparently this suggestion has fallen upon barren ground and makes me genuinely sorry for him. No. 3 Shareholder cannot understand why the Federation pay-out last season was less than that of the season before although prices for butter were higher and most of the opposition had stopped. Well No. 3 Shareholder, if you will study the balance sheets carefully it might possibly prevent you from making ridiculous statements and appearing foolish. The payout in 1927 was 1/3.4 while the pay-out last season was 1/4.33, nearly one penny per lb. higher. These are plain facts No. 3 Shareholder, and it appears to me you are deliberately trying to misrepresent the position. If No. 3 Shareholder will peruse carefully the balance sheets of the dairy factories in Dunedin and Christchurch he will find that the pav-out of the Federation last season bears very favourable comparison. However if he makes such erroneous deductions as he has in connection with the pay-out, I am afraid his conclusions will be of little value to anyone.—l am, etc., NO. 4 SHAREHOLDER.
