NEW ZEALAND PRODUCE

DEMAND IN LIVERPOOL. REGULAR SHIPMENTS URGED. London, October 13. Sir James Parr made a successful visit to Liverpool, where he was the guest of the Mersey Harbour Board at a luncheon at which he met 50 leading business men. The Lady Mayoress, Miss Beaven, said that Liverpool wanted more New Zealand produce, but it was essential that there should be regularity of shipments. The president of the Corn Exchange later made the same plea, stating that there would be a considerable saving in freight if New Zealand used Liverpool as a distributing centre for the great and populous area. Sir James Parr, in reply, declared that much depended on the extent to which New Zealand goods were sold in the shops. He would thoroughly investigate the matter and report to his Government. New Zealand was keen to find markets, especially for dairy produce, exports of which had increased 33 per cent, in twelve months.— Australian Press Association.
