Representations have been I made to the ineterological branch of the

Department of Scientific and Industrial Research in this relation. Dr Kidson, director of the branch, communicated with the council and he stated in effect that it seemed desirable that such a station should be established if satisfactory conditions could be assured. These were: (1) That the council set aside for the purpose an area in a permanent public reserve; (2) that the council enclose the site for protective purposes; (3) that the council undertake to have the observation made regularly and continuously by a suitable person. Or. Anderson, who is largely instrumental for the above move, stated that the park- was the most suitable site and it was accordingly decided to confer with the local tourist officer and the postmaster regarding the possibilities of securing the site and carrying out the conditions set out by Dr. Kidson.
