A MAYOR’S LOSS
BURGLARY AT CHRISTCHURCH. REV. J. K. ARCHER’S HOME ENTERED. (Per United Press Association.) Christchurch, October 12. After ransacking four rooms of the Mayor’s house at 118, Tennyson street, Beckenham, last night, burglars took away a gold presentation watch and two ladies’ watches. Their exit was a hurried one, and it is thought probable that they were surprised by the arrival of the Mayor’s son at 9 p.m. A little later the Rev. J. K. Archer arrived on the scene, having been summoned from a function of welcome to the All Black footballers. The intruders gained their entry through, the window which had been left open.
