RED CROSS SOCIETY

INVERCARGILL BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Invercargill Red Cross Society was held in the rooms, Tay street, on Thursday, there being present : Mrs W. P. Smith (president, in the chair), Mesdames J. G. Petrie, H. Acton, R. Henderson and Nurse Kerse. Reports of the activities of Sister Lewis (Wellington), Sister Corkill (Taranakil and Sister Christina (Lincoln Districts) were received for the months of August and September, 1928. The Rev. J. H. Thomson wrote accepting the appointment of hospital visitor for the society. Mrs J. G. Petrie and Mrs H. Acton reported having visited the Southland Hospital, there being nine soldier patients at present. Mrs R. Henderson reported that there were no soldier patients at the Kew Sanatorium, the last one being discharged last week. Miss A. E. McNaughton (Riverton) reported having visited the Wallace Hospital weekly, there being at present two soldier patients. Six applications for underclothing were received, five of same being granted.
